This snowmobile adventure is the perfect introduction to winter wilderness travel — and a taste that will almost certainly leave you wanting more.
We head northeast over frozen terrain toward Tempelfjorden, one of Svalbard’s most iconic destinations. Here stands the historic trapper’s cabin of Hilmar Nøis, the legendary hunter who spent an astonishing 35 winters in Svalbard’s harsh, beautiful landscape.
If time and conditions are in our favor, we’ll continue the ascent to the top of Fjordnibba plateau, where panoramic views stretch endlessly across glaciers and fjords. Breathe in the crisp Arctic air and let the moment sink in — the silence, the scale, the raw beauty.
Then it’s time to turn back toward Longyearbyen, with fresh memories, wind in your face, and a new appetite for Arctic adventure.

Program

Your guide will meet you at the hotel reception at 8:30 AM.
Once the group is assembled, we head to our Expedition Centre, where you’ll receive important safety information and get properly suited up in warm snowmobile gear.

Each participant drives their own snowmobile (unless you’ve booked as a passenger). We recommend driving yourself — not only is it more fun, but it also helps keep you warm out on the trail!

Throughout the day, we’ll make several scenic stops to take in viewpoints, explore notable landmarks, and ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying the ride. The adventure includes a hearty expedition lunch in the field.

We return to your hotel around 4:30 PM, full of fresh Arctic air, great memories, and maybe a little snow in your eyelashes.

GROUPS

Would you like to have your board meeting, conference event, incentive group, private guiding or even a kick-off event in the middle of the true Arctic? Let us know and we will tailor your trip!

Clothing and equipment

Prepare yourself for some wind and an average temperature of around -14°C.

Necessary clothing in the Arctic is woollen thermals as the base layer, warm wool or fleece trousers & sweater on the top. Two layers of socks (thin & thick woollen socks), windproof layer on the top. Spacious clothing is recommended because air is the best insulation. Windproof mittens with a warm liner or thick gloves, a warm hat, scarf or flees- tube is also a must have in Svalbard. We also recommend you to bring thinner gloves (liners) to use under your snowmobile mittens.

weather conditions in svalbard

In Svalbard, weather conditions can change quickly. We can meet heavy winds, snowstorms or thick fog, crevasses and lack of snow or ice. This means we might need to make changes to the planned route, and this might result in not arriving to the planned destination. It can also mean that we need to use a different transportation style or accommodation than what was described in the program. We will always do our outmost to give our guests a great experience in the Arctic, but we must be aware that characteristics of the destination.
