TRAVEL ADVICE AND RESTRICTIONS

Important information for travellers to Spitsbergen

The small print is not as exciting as the adventures on Spitsbergen, but this information is important for you who travel. We are a responsible provider of adventures, and our guests’ well-being and safety have our highest priority.

You will find updated and official travel advice and restrictions for Svalbard at Visit Svalbard. Please visit Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ and The National Institute of Public Health for further information and entry restrictions related to the ongoing pandemic.

At the moment it is required to present a negative antigen rapid test before departure to Svalbard, not older than 24 hours for persons who can not document they are fully vaccinated or have undergone Covid-19. A negative self-test is not valid as documentation.

The Norwegian government has also decided that persons arriving in Svalbard must test for SARS-Cov-2 within 24 hours of arrival. The test must be an antigen rapid test (self-test).

We emphasize that our guests are responsible for ensuring that they meet the requirements upon arrival in Norway, and that restrictions may change continuously as a result of the pandemic situation in and outside Norway.

Safety

Basecamp Explorer is concerned with giving all our visitors a safe and healthy stay. Basecamp Explorer’s employees are carefully instructed in optimal infection control and prioritize this at the highest level.

If you are going on an adventure trip with us, the guide will provide thorough information on how all participants maintain good infection control. All guests must complete the infection tracking form, keep the recommended distance to people outside their own group and avoid sharing equipment.

Rights

Basecamp Explorer will at all times follow the current restrictions and infection control rules for the ongoing pandemic, recommended and prescribed by the Norwegian authorities. Furthermore, it is important that you as a customer know that Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen is subject to the Package Travel Act and is a member of the Travel Guarantee Fund, and we recommend that you familiarize yourself with what this entails.

Our general terms and conditions are still valid for all bookings with us, with associated cancellation deadlines. We therefore ask you to make sure you know and understand the financial risks when travelling in a known pandemic situation.

We emphasize again that each individual traveller is responsible to familiarize themselves with the conditions that apply, as this is important considering the constant changes in the pandemic situation in each and every country.

The Package Travel Act may limit reimbursement rights in cases where the traveller is aware of circumstances that may change or prevent travel. As by now, it is likely to expect that the ongoing pandemic is well known throughout.

You can cancel your booking in accordance with our terms and conditions, but if the cancellation takes place after the specified time, it may cause limited refunding.

If you have questions about your booking and our terms and conditions, please send an email to spitsbergen@basecampexplorer.com, and one of our travel designers will help you.
