Of course we are proud, and not least grateful, that both guests and our own industry recognize the value of tailoring in the Arctic, says Brita Knutsen Dahl.
– We are driven by innovation and have dared to establish ourselves off the beaten track. It gives guests an even closer encounter with mighty Svalbard. Our guests should feel a touch of expedition spirit and a lot of mastery in the face of the wilderness, while at the same time encountering excellent comfort when they arrive at our destinations in the wilderness.
Communication of Svalbard’s history, culture and nature is central to Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen. Guests who come to Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel meet the same buildings that housed the radio station from 1933, but inside await comfort, culinary highlights and, not least, a framework for closeness.

– The world’s northernmost commercial lodge, Nordenskiöld Lodge, is our most exclusive product. Here we give our guests a rare luxury – time and peace, with a fantastic glacier in front. The feeling of being small, but big in all that is powerful, is overwhelming, says Knutsen Dahl.
It literally takes steel in your arms and legs to run tailor-made expeditions across Svalbard. But it also requires in-depth Arctic expertise and courage. Operations in vulnerable areas must be handled with insight.
– Our people (guides, hosts, the office team) have an enormous will to stand their ground, are brave and wise. We are also proud to have a management group made up of women, as role models and promoters of a respectful and enthusiastic dissemination of the Arctic.
The award for Norway’s best supplier of experiences is a fantastic recognition of all the work we put into creating extraordinary adventures on Svalbard. We are happy to contribute to Norwegian tourism being noticed, concludes Brita Knutsen Dahl.
