Charlotte Moritz

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Charlotte (22) may have grown up in a big city, but her heart has always belonged to the wild. Her family traveled extensively throughout Scandinavia and the Arctic, sparking a fascination with Svalbard from an early age.
In 2020, the pandemic abruptly ended Charlotte’s promising rowing career, and the idea of studying during lockdown felt unappealing for someone who thrives in the outdoors. Instead, she headed north to Svalbard Folkehøgskole’s expedition program, where she quickly fell in love with the Arctic way of life. Her passion for exploration led her to become a certified Svalbard guide, and today she balances her work with studies in paramedicine.
After four years in Svalbard, Charlotte has found her true home in the vast Arctic landscapes and the unparalleled sense of freedom they offer. “Nature here is so extreme that all the unimportant things fade away—you become fully present in the moment.”
