The northernmost commercial cabin on Earth
Nordenskiöld Lodge
Where Ancient Ice Has A Voice
Nordenskiöld Lodge rests at the foot of the Nordenskiöld Glacier, set within the moraine and far beyond established routes in the wilderness of Spitsbergen. Here, the rhythm is set by the glacier itself. Ice shifts. Snow settles. Silence deepens.
With no roads, no passing traffic and no digital distractions, the lodge offers rare access to the raw Arctic landscape. Days are shaped by guided exploration across glacier terrain and mountain ridges. Evenings return to warmth, stillness and perspective.
This is not an escape from the world. It is a return to something essential.
Scenes From Your Stay
Hotel Information
The Nordenskiöld Glacier forms part of a vast ice system stretching all the way to the northern shores of Spitsbergen. This is the outer limit of motorised travel. Beyond this point, the Arctic demands effort, skis or dog sled are the only ways forward.
Reaching Nordenskiöld Lodge is a journey in itself. In summer, you arrive by boat across cold, open waters. In winter, the route unfolds by snowmobile or dog sled, crossing frozen fjords and wide glacier plains. Every approach reinforces the same truth: this is not a place stumbled upon. It is earned.
The lodge itself is a discreet presence in a monumental landscape: Almost invisible against the glacier and mountain backdrop. Inside, warmth meets wilderness.
Here, exclusivity is not about excess. It is about location, silence and scale.
A rare Arctic refuge at the very edge of access.
Nordenskiöld Lodge has only four guest rooms with comfortable beds. Here you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the glacier. The cabin has a shower and indoor toilet. Our hosts are always present to give you the best experiences. They fire the sauna and the wood stove, make tasty food and are happy to share their Arctic knowledge.
Nordenskiöld Lodge is one of the world’s coolest places to stay! A hidden treasure in the middle of mighty Svalbard.
