Being recognised by the travel industry as Norway’s Best Supplier of Experiences is both an honour and a strong motivation to keep raising the bar. In the same awards, Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen was also named Norway’s Best DMC 2025. A recognition of our position as a leading Arctic partner for tailor-made land programmes.

These awards reflect our long-term commitment to crafting extraordinary experiences that genuinely move our guests. In the High Arctic, experiences cannot be standardised. They must be shaped by knowledge, respect for nature and a willingness to venture beyond the expected.
nnovation has always driven our development. By establishing unique properties and experiences off the beaten track, we offer guests closer encounters with the powerful landscapes of Svalbard. A touch of expedition spirit and a sense of mastery in the wilderness are essential parts of the journey, balanced with refined comfort upon arrival at our remote destinations.

Communicating Svalbard’s history, culture and fragile environment remains central to everything we do. At Isfjord Radio Station, guests stay within the original 1933 radio station buildings, carefully preserved and thoughtfully transformed into a characterful retreat where heritage, culinary experiences and intimacy meet.
Nordenskiöld Lodge, the world’s northernmost commercial lodge, represents our most exclusive offering. Here, guests experience a rare form of luxury: time, silence and proximity to a majestic glacier landscape. The overwhelming contrast between human scale and Arctic magnitude creates perspective that stays long after departure.

Operating responsibly in vulnerable Arctic environments requires more than physical endurance. It demands deep expertise, sound judgement and courage. Our guides, hosts and office team share a strong commitment to quality and sustainability. We are also proud to have 50% women within the organization, serving as role models and ambassadors for a respectful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic approach to sharing the Arctic.
These awards are a meaningful acknowledgement of the dedication behind every expedition, every stay and every guest experience. We are proud to contribute to Norway’s tourism industry being recognised internationally and we remain committed to setting new standards for responsible adventure in Svalbard.
In partnership with Polar Bears International
This is not a passive journey north. This is an Arctic expedition with purpose, created for those who want to go deeper, learn more, and contribute directly to the protection of one of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems.

In collaboration with Polar Bears International, Basecamp Explorer invites a small group of donors and explorers to join an exclusive summer expedition to Svalbard, next to the North Pole.
For ten days, you will explore Svalbard by both land and sea, combining remote wilderness stays with an expedition cruise along glaciers, fjords and Arctic coastlines.
Together with experienced Basecamp Explorer guides and leading Polar Bears International scientists, you will gain rare insight into:
- The Arctic ecosystem and its rapid changes
- Polar bear behaviour and habitat
- Climate science, research and conservation work in practice
This is knowledge shared where it matters most; in the field.

The expedition includes a multi-day stay at Isfjord Radio, our historic outpost from 1933, located nearly 100 kilometres from civilisation.
Here, surrounded by sea, tundra and mountains, daily life slows down.
The wilderness takes the lead.
Conversations deepen.
Guided excursions, lectures, shared meals and quiet moments in the Arctic landscape create space for reflection and connection.
The journey continues aboard an expedition ship, allowing access to remote fjords, glaciers and landing sites unreachable by land alone.
Each day is shaped by:
- Weather
- Ice conditions
- Wildlife observations
No fixed script.
No guarantees, except that the Arctic will set the terms.

Why this expedition matters
Every guest contributes directly to Polar Bears International’s vital work protecting polar bears and their habitat.
This expedition is designed for:
- Donors of Polar Bears International
- Curious, knowledge-seeking travellers
- People who value depth over speed
This expedition offers no spectacle without substance.
Instead, it offers perspective, understanding, and moments that reshape how you see the Arctic, and the world beyond it.
Welcome to the High Arctic.
Welcome to an expedition with purpose.
