Skål Sustainable Tourism Award 2015
Basecamp Explorer Kenya is the winner of the 2015 Skål Sustainable Tourism Award in the category of Rural Accommodation.
The announcement was made during the fourteenth annual Skål Sustainable Tourism Awards on 29th October 2015 during the Opening Ceremony of the 76th Skål World Congress held in Torremolinos, Spain.
This is the most prestigious and deserving award presented by Skål International Globally.
It recognizes organizations that engage in best practices in tourism around the world and also serves the purpose of acquainting the world with the new concept that puts emphasis on the importance of the interaction of the physical, cultural and social environment the traveler’s responsibility and the need for active community participation for Sustainability.
The Award received more than 60 entries from across the World, each was reviewed and evaluated by independent judges, according to Award criteria, where Basecamp Explorer Kenya emerged the best: Contribution to the conservation of nature, environmental considerations, Cultural heritage conservation, Community involvement and benefits, Educational features and benefits, Business viability and economic growth, Innovation and creativity, Marketing Value generation, Health, Safety and well being of employees and guest.
