The magic of Christmas in Longyearbyen

In the polar night, the Basecamp Hotel sparkles. Spacious, warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas. In the run-up to Christmas, we love to treat our guests a little extra, and therefore we offer musical adventures, tasty delicacies and exciting meetings with puppies and people.

Halvor Bakke Basecamp Hotel Christmas

Halvor Bakke is coming to Longyearbyen to make sure our hotel is overloaded with Christmas spirit. Together with stylist Berit L. Vildalen, he has busy days before the Christmas hotel opens on Saturday 11 November. Christmas trees are decorated, Christmas wreaths are hung on walls and doors and ice lanterns are lit.

Halvor and Berit welcome everyone to experience the Christmas hotel this Saturday in November. They share interior tips and ideas for the a lovely Christmas atmosphere in the home. We serve mulled wine and gingerbread, and offer an intimate concert with KC’s Club Arctica, with vocalist Kristin Cecilie Meyer-Skottun.

Aurora bubbles and cellotones

In the polar night, people and music meet. On Saturday 25 November we will enjoy beautiful tones from Markus Eriksen and his cello. Markus lives in Longyearbyen, and works as a music teacher. He is also the leader of two of the town’s choirs and a big band. Markus is actually Longyearbyen’s only professional musician, so here you just sit back and enjoy him and the cello – in the company of a sparkling glass of aurora bubbles.

Guess who’s coming to town? The puppies from our dog yard in Bolterdalen! They are so much looking forward to meeting the “big city people” in Longyearbyen. We set up a mini-dog yard outside the hotel, light torches and serve hot cocoa and buns.
