For the position of head chef at Isfjord Radio, Fredrik was driven by a desire to tackle the demanding challenges of running a kitchen in one of the world’s most isolated places. With complicated logistics and changing, rough weather, Fredrik seeks to maintain a high standard at all meals at the wilderness hotel. He makes full use of the local ingredients, ensures minimal waste and creates menus that reflect the Nordic heritage.

For Fredrik, life on Svalbard is more than just a job; it’s a way of life. Previous sailing adventures around Norway have given him a deep understanding and appreciation of Norwegian nature and landscape. He regards being isolated on Svalbard as therapeutic, a rare opportunity for self-insight, relaxation and to experience the arctic wilderness in the most authentic way.

Fredrik’s is as colorful as his culinary creations. He is outgoing and always looking for the next adventure. For him, the cooking profession is not just a profession, but a passion that provides opportunities for continuous learning and experiences.
